How to use the timeline
Read the timeline during playback and use it to track progress through the current cue.
Before you begin
- A show file is loaded.
Reading the timeline
The timeline panel sits below the cuelist. If you have used a DAW, it works the same way:
- a horizontal display showing measures and beats
- tracks laid out as rows below it
- playhead moving left-to-right as audio plays.
It is a linear visual representation of the show: songs, measures, tracks, and their content.

Playhead position. The playhead moves left-to-right across the timeline at the cue's tempo when a cue is firing. Green = playing. Red = stopped.

Orange line (quantised triggers). If quantisation is on and you press Go while a cue is playing, a second orange line appears alongside the playhead. It shows where the next cue will fire (the end of the current measure), and disappears when that cue triggers. While the trigger is armed, the active cue also turns yellow in the masthead and the cuelist, returning to normal once the next cue fires.
Zoom and navigate the timeline
You can change the timeline's view of the cue:
- Drag up / down: zoom the time axis in or out.
- Drag left / right: scroll through the cue.
⌘+ drag up / down: zoom waveform amplitude.
