System Requirements
KTPlayer is a macOS application for live theatre playback. The requirements below cover the supported environment for KTPlayer 1.0.6.
Operating system
- macOS: Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
- Windows and Linux are not supported.
Audio
- Audio engine: Core Audio. Any Core Audio device works, including built-in speakers, USB / Thunderbolt audio interfaces, and aggregate devices.
- Sample rate: show files are authored at 48 kHz. Your audio device must be able to run at 48 kHz.
- Buffer size: KTPlayer supports buffer sizes from 64 to 1024 samples. Lower buffers mean lower latency at higher CPU cost.
MIDI
- MIDI input: any MIDI device recognized by macOS. Configure in Preferences → Devices → MIDI devices.
- Devices must be ticked under Listen before they can trigger commands.
Storage
- Show files (
.ktd): vary in size by show (typically 750MB-1.5GB) - Activation files (
.kta): small (kilobytes). - All files live on your local disk. KTPlayer does not stream from the cloud during playback.
Network
- Activating a license by activation key (the standard method) requires a one-time internet connection.
- Activating by activation file (the alternate, for offline machines) does not require internet.
- KTPlayer does not need a network connection during performance.
