How to change whether a cue is quantised

Turn quantised triggering on or off for an individual cue using the Q column in the Edit View.

Before you begin

  • A show file is loaded.
  • Quantize GO to next bar is enabled in Preferences → Behavior (it ships on). See below.

Steps

  1. Switch to edit view: View → Edit Cuelist (⌘E ), or click the Edit toggle in the Bottom bar.
  2. Find the cue you want to change. The Q column stays visible from the main interface, alongside the extra editable columns.
  3. Click the cue's Q cell to toggle it between the two states:
  4. Q (tick), quantised: pressing Go waits until the end of the current measure, so the cue change lands on the downbeat.
  5. off (cross), immediate: pressing Go fires straight away, wherever you are in the measure.
  6. The setting applies straight away, there's nothing to confirm.

The global setting must be on

The per-cue Q column only works while Quantize GO to next bar is enabled in Preferences → Behavior (it's on by default). If that global setting is off, quantisation is disabled everywhere and can't be toggled on. The Q column still shows values, but they appear grayed and in brackets, and you can't switch an individual cue's quantise on. See How to use quantised cue triggering.

The Q column doesn't turn yellow

Unlike the other editable Edit-View columns (Tpo, Pitch, Play…), the Q cell doesn't highlight yellow when you change it from its shipped value. Read the cell itself, Q  means quantised, off  means immediate.
